WHY CHOOSE AN ANESTHESIA PROVIDER?
An anesthesia provider, being either a CRNA or Anesthesiologist is highly proficient in infusing and monitoring patients with ketamine and lidocaine as they frequently do so every day in operating rooms across the US. They are uniquely trained to deliver medications such as these in a safe manner all the while having the specialized training to treat any side effects that may occur during treatments. If you have a history of a difficult IV an anesthesia provider will utilize years of experience in difficult vascular access to safely and efficiently place an intravenous line for your therapy.
CAN MY PROVIDER REACH OUT AND SPEAK WITH THE CLINIC DIRECTLY?
Absolutely! We will openly discuss any cases with your physician or advance practice provider directly and encourage open dialogue. This is the best way to create a well rounded treatment plan for you. We can be reached via email or phone at any time. We make every attempt to return communications within 24 hours to assist in quick turn around so you can efficiently get the treatment you need.
WHAT TYPES OF INSURANCE DO YOU ACCEPT OR DO YOU OFFER ANY SPECIAL FINANCING?
We are strictly a pre- pay clinic. We do not work directly with any insurance companies but will provide a superbill for you to utilize in negotiating any type of reimbursement that your insurance company may offer. We do not have any ability to negotiate for you or on your behalf. We cannot guarantee any insurance reimbursements under any circumstances. We do require payment up front before scheduling your series treatments for Chronic pain or Mental Health. This can be accomplished by several options offering cashiers check, Venmo, Zelle, Credit card processing and financing options through Advanced Care Credit. We can assist you in information related to Advanced Care Credit.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY INFUSION?
From the moment you arrive to the time you leave we aim to create a calm, comforting environment which will place you in a mindful, intentional state for your treatments. We utilize a variety of environmental stimuli to induce a feeling of ease. You will check in for your appointment and be escorted to a comfortable private space for your appointment. We encourage utilizing soothing music or sound selections of your choice during therapy and will create a warm, dim, quiet space to relax in.
Once you are settled in to your space intravenous access will be initiated and a full monitor tracking your vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturations will be placed. We will ensure you have all questions answered and thorough care has been completely to prepare you for the start of the infusions. Once we are both satisfied the therapy will begin.
Throughout your infusion you will be fully monitored and checked on in frequent intervals start to finish. Ascend wellness is fully stocked with medications to treat any side effects that warrant treatment. You can rest assured we aim to ensure the best possible experience we can.
When the infusion is completed we will make sure you are fully ready to leave with your companion to go home meaning your vital signs are within acceptable parameters and any side effects you may experience are minimal.
WHY DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY PRIMARY PROVIDER (PAIN OR MENTAL HEALTH)?
While an anesthesia provider is highly skilled in delivery of these medications, your chronic pain or mental health provider is highly trained in long term management of the conditions leading you to our infusion clinic. We prefer a well rounded, collaborative relationship that covers all of the unique challenges arising within these conditions to give you the best care.
WHAT SIDE EFFECTS CAN OCCUR WITH A KETAMINE INFUSION?
You can at times experience elevated blood pressure, increased heart rate, anxiety, nausea/vomiting, perceptual disturbances (time appearing to speed up or slow down; colors, textures, and noises that seem especially stimulating; blurry vision) and dissociation (sometimes called out-of-body experiences); rarely, a person may feel as if they are looking down on their body, for example. We have an array of medications readily available to reduce and treat the intensity of these potential untoward side effects. We utilize a wide variety of anti-nausea modalities including IV medications, hydration, essential oils and pressure point therapy. For those with a history of post operative nausea/vomiting we have a nausea kit that can be added to any treatment regimen prescribed in addition to the base anti nausea medications we utilize with every infusion… the Nausea Super kit. Your anesthesia provider is specially trained in the pathophysiology of nausea and vomiting which can be covered prophylactically and acutely by a variety of medications and treatments.
WHAT IS NEEDED FOR AN IV HYDRATION OR NUTRITION INFUSION?
You do not need a provider referral to utilize our hydration/nutrition services. We do require an appointment but hope to offer walk in services also at some point in the future. Generally speaking, you will not need any lab work for the options we are offering; except in rare circumstances based on medical history and/or in the event of specialized infusions being requested outside the general menu options. Please schedule a free phone consultation if you have any questions. Otherwise, an appointment can be scheduled any time for one of our quick process chairs in The Infusion Lounge.
